This summer I attended Penland School of Crafts in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and took Denise Bookwalter’s Flat-to-3D Letterpress class. I posted quite a few photos during my time there, but I will be posting more photos over the next few days capturing my magical time there. I can’t wait to go back!
Penland Recap 1: Modular Origami
These photos are highlights from the first project Denise showed us: modular origami created from letterpress printed paper. Each small slip of paper is folded so that several pieces can interlock with one another to create a 3D structure without adhesive. I chose a small, simple structure, but they can get very large and change forms.
