The University of North Texas has been getting a lot of press over the past few months for Printmaking’s letterpress revival project. Professor Lari R. Gibbons and graduate students Christopher Wallace, Linda Santana, Laura H. Drapac and myself, restored presses for P.R.I.N.T. Press and Printmaking.
The body of work created from the project, titled Second Edition, was on display at the Museum of Printing History in Houston, P.R.I.N.T. Press in Denton, and is now showing at Clampitt Paper’s Creative Center in Dallas.
The UNT Rare Books Room in Willis Library recently acquired my artist book, Response to Stress. This book never would’ve been created without the restoration of our presses!
In March, we will present a video demonstration, Revival! Unchartered Paths Give New Perspectives, at Southern Graphics Council International in New Orleans about this project and how to create matrices using a CNC (computer numerically controlled) router.
